Serviio will help you access media files from all your connected devices. You see, you can use Serviio to set up a media server and share music files, videos, and images over your home network. Any device that is connected to the network will be able to access these shared files. You’ll be able to watch photos from your smartphone and play videos from your smart TV for example.

Serviio is a Java-based tool. And that is a good thing. It means that Serviio will work on computers that run Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, or Linux. Focusing on Windows alone, I have to bring up that a straightforward setup wizard will help you install Serviio on your Windows PC.

Said setup wizard will install the Serviio server and the Serviio console. The server starts automatically when the Windows operating system boots up. The console can be used to customize how the server works and to choose what media is shared via the server. Said console has a tabbed interface that is very easy to navigate. It nicely lists everything that Serviio has to offer and it lets you conveniently access all of Serviio’s features and functions.

Speaking of which, Serviio is available as a Free and as a paid Pro edition. As you can imagine, the Free edition has fewer features to offer (a chart that details the difference between these two editions is available here). The paid Pro version is free to use for a trial period of 14 days.

Get Serviio, quickly set up a media server, and conveniently share music, photos and videos with devices that are connected to your home network.

Pros

Because it is based on Java, Serviio works with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. A straightforward setup wizard will help you install Serviio on a Windows PC. The Serviio console has a tabbed interface; easily navigate this interface and customize how Serviio works. Serviio is available as a Free and as a Pro version (free to try for 14 days).

Cons

None that I could think of.
